Neil Robertson is the reigning champion after his magnificent 10-9 defeat of Judd Trump in last year’s final.
Ronnie O'Sullivan has won the event on three previous occasions while John Higgins and Shaun Murphy have also tasted success.
The straight knockout tournament comprising of 16 players will ultimately find the Champion of Champions.
TV coverage of the event will be on ITV 4.
