Tour de France prize money: How much can Thomas, Alaphilippe, Bernal earn?
THE Tour de France reaches a conclusion today but how much prize money is on offer for the riders?
The Tour de France comes to a conclusion in Paris with a sprint finish along the iconic Champs-Elysees.
The 21-stage event is one of the toughest endurance races in the world as the riders cover over 2,000 miles.
The total prize fund for this year's Tour de France is worth €2,291,700 (£2,050,256).
This is spread across the general classification, mountain stage, young rider and team results.
The overall yellow jersey winner takes home the bulk of the fund, earning €500,000 (£447,322).
However, tradition dictates that the champion hands over his winnings to his team-mates in recognition of their efforts.
The green and polka dot jersey winners will each earn €25,000 (£22,366), while the white jersey prize for the young rider stands at €20,000 (£17,892).
The yellow jersey holder also takes home €500 (£447) each day, while the owners of the green, polka dot and white jerseys at the end of the stage collect €300 (£268) each.
There is also money on offer for sprint stage wins (€1,500, €1,000 and €500) and the top 14 finishers in each road stage and time trial pick up decreasing amounts starting at €11,000.
