London Marathon prize money: How much could Mo Farah and co pocket?
THE London Marathon takes place today with Mo Farah among the favourites to win the men’s race, but how much would he earn if he crosses the finish line first?
London Marathon: Eliud Kipchoge wins elite men’s race
Farah is a four-time Olympic champion though those wins came at 5,000m and 10,000m.
He takes on Eliud Kipchoge today with the Kenyan the current world record holder having run the Berlin event in two hours one minute 39 seconds in September.
That’s three and a half minutes faster than Farah’s best but the Brit is not going to shy away from a challenge.
"Eliud is a great athlete and the world record holder," said Farah.
"I'm going to go out there and give it my best."
The prize money for men and women is the same at the London Marathon.
