The Warriors eventually got the job done against the LA Clippers in the first round clash last night, winning Fame 6 in Los Angeles.
But they head into the next round knowing Houston have had much more time to prepare for the series.
The Rockets beat the Utah Jazz in five, their last game being on Wednesday night.
For Golden State, it's a quick turnaround for Game 1 against the Rockets with tip-off scheduled for 8.30pm (BST) on Sunday.
And they have one "significant" injury concern ahead of the semifinals.
Thompson picked up a right ankle sprain in the Game 6 win over the Clippers and has been listed as questionable entering the Rockets series.
And Steve Kerr revealed just how serious the injury is.
"It was a significant sprain," he said.
"He was limping last night.
"As I said, we'll see how he's doing tomorrow."
The Warriors' concerns don't end there though as Steph Curry also picked up a right ankle sprain.
The two-time MVP has also been listed as questionable for Game 1 against Houston.
Both Curry and Thompson took part in practice on Saturday morning and will be reassessed before the game on Sunday.
Draymond Green has also been nursing a wrist issue since Game 3, but Kerr insists the 29-year-old is "good".
