NBA: Lakers star LeBron James praises Kyrie Irving
NBA News - Lakers given Kyrie Irving advice
The Los Angeles Lakers need LeBron James to reach out to Kyrie Irving if they hope to sign him ahead of the New York Knicks, according to ESPN’s Max Kellerman.
“Everyone thinks Kyrie is heading to the Knicks," Kellerman said. "If I’m LeBron James, he has to humble himself right now.
“They need each other more than they realise. LeBron has to pick up the phone and let Kyrie know, ‘brother I need you.
“‘You’re going to have the keys to this franchise, you don’t want to be in New York in that dysfunctional place. Come to L.A.’ They could be Kobe and Shaq gone right.”
NBA News - Giannis Antetokounmpo makes statement on MVP award
Milwaukee Bucks ace Giannis Antetokounmpo insists he isn’t thinking about scooping the NBA’s Most Valuable Player of the Year award at the end of the season.
“I definitely noticed that, I heard it,” Antetokounmpo said when asked if he heard fans chanting ‘MVP, MVP’ when he had the ball during the Bucks’ 108-94 win over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. “Having the greatest fans in the NBA is awesome.
“I really appreciate the fans supporting me and supporting the team and nights like this we try to deliver with a win.
I don’t think about it
“But, as I said in the past, I don’t think about it [the MVP award].
“I just come in here and do my job and try and win games.”
NBA News - LeBron James claim made
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reckons James will be happy with the Lakers’ reported pursuit of Jason Kidd, who they’re rumoured to be interested in appointing as their new head coach.
NBA: Wright names Giannis Antetokounmpo 'most valuable'
“I think it’s clear from what he said today that he is very interested in the job,” he said on SportsCenter.
“He wants to be respectful of Luke Walton and he was several times.
“The thing about Jason Kidd and LeBron James is one of the difficulties of coaching LeBron is he has to respect you.
“He really has to respect you when you walk in the room. It’s much harder to sell respect over the course of time.
“That’s something that Jason Kidd will absolutely have.
“Not only did he play against him many times, but he also has great respect for the way he played even before when LeBron was learning the game.
“That’s something that Jason Kidd brings to the table and that’s why he would be a serious candidate if the Lakers decide to make a coaching change because of that respect level that he brings.”
