Kyrie Irving STAYING with Celtics: Boston fans go wild over one major sign vs Warriors
KYRIE IRVING had Boston Celtics fans in meltdown over his performance against the Golden State Warriors.
Kyrie Irving is 'one of those special players' says Kevin Durant
It has been a tough season for the Celtics so far, even more since the All-Star break.
They had lost five of their last six games prior to the game against the Warriors and the team looked completely dejected.
Marcus Morris and others have said how the players aren't having fun at the moment and weren't playing as a unit.
And there wasn't much hope heading into a game against defending champions Golden State on the road.
However, Boston came out playing at an elite level from the off and had a 25-point lead at the half - the biggest deficit the Warriors have faced all season.
Players looked like they were having fun and the ball movement was similar to how they performed in the playoffs last year.
Gordon Hayward was back playing some of his best basketball but it was one sequence of play from Irving which caught the attention of some Boston fans.
After hitting a corner three and getting cheers from his team-mates as he ran back down the court, Irving took a charge on Steph Curry and Celtics fans loved his reaction.
The six-time All-Star could be seen smiling as his team-mates helped him back up off the floor and shouting 'let's go'.
And Boston fans believe that could be the first sign that suggests he could still re-sign in the offseason.
One fan tweeted: "F*** THE KNICKS KYRIE STAYING."
Another said: "Wait... did I just see... Kyrie Irving... smile in a Celtics jersey?"
A third posted: "With that charge on Steph Curry, that might be the first time I've seen Kyrie Irving smile all season."
A fourth read: "KYRIE IRVING ENJOYS THE CELTICS AND GORDON HAYWARD IS ALIVE."
The Warriors were competing without Klay Thompson, who was sitting out with a knee injury.
Next up for the Celtics is another road game in the second of a back-to-back match-up against the Sacramento Kings tomorrow night before facing both Los Angeles teams.
