Anthony Davis: Lakers and Celtics on red alert after biggest trade clue yet
ANTHONY DAVIS dropped a huge trade clue when quizzed on his New Orleans Pelicans future last night.
NBA: Anthony Davis REFUSES to answer question about transfer
Davis’ future has been up in the air all season as he continues to grow frustrated at his side for languishing near the bottom of the Western Conference.
The power forward scored 34 points in a 126-121 defeat against Brooklyn Nets last night.
However, he was tetchy in his post-match press conference and refused to answer a question regarding his trade plans.
Davis regularly speaks openly about his desire to stay with the Pelicans to help them turn into NBA Championship contenders.
But his patience appears to be wearing thin as Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics begin to make movements in the background.
"Next question," Davis said when asked about when he will grow frustrated of constantly being on the losing side.
The 25-year-old then criticised his side’s defensive work as the Nets racked up 71 points in the first half alone.
“The frustration is, we’re a better team than our record shows,” Davis added.
“I mean, everyone’s frustrated — players, coaches, front office. We just have to be better.
“We know what we did last year, we know how good of a team we are.
"They didn't play well tonight, but we know they'll be fine most games.
“But it wasn't on our bench the way we started the game - that was on the starters. We're the ones who let the lead get to what it was.
“We didn’t play any defence. They did whatever they wanted. They didn’t feel us on the defensive end.
“We weren’t physical, we weren’t talking. They got a lot of layups, a lot of threes. They shot the ball extremely well, due to our lazy defence.
“It doesn’t matter about numbers, I’m just worried about the win. We didn’t do that tonight.
“My numbers don’t matter. We’ve got to do a better job on the defensive end.”
