Scottish Open snooker ROW: Neil Robertson calls ref a 'DISGRACE' and blasts opponent
NEIL ROBERTSON has blasted a Scottish Open official as a 'disgrace' in a bitter press conference rant.
Scottish Open: Pundits discuss Robertson after slamming referee
Robertson was dumped out the tournament in the second round by Ross Muir, who battled to a 4-2 win.
It was a low quality affair with Robertson struggling with kicks and Muir battling an eye problem that leads to blurred vision under the bright lights.
Muir appeared in the Eurosport studio afterwards to discuss the issue and admitted he is considering the possibility of wearing a visor to try and sort it.
Robertson, meanwhile, appeared in front of journalists to blast Muir for his slow play.
"The referee should have stepped in and told Ross Muir to hurry up," Robertson said.
"A stronger referee would have taken action - it's a disgrace."
Muir averaged 31.5seconds a shot and legend Jimmy White thinks the Aussie was wrong to go on a rant.
"I think by the time he gets home he will wish he never said that," he said on Eurosport.
"He struggled, he had untold kicks. His average shot time was 31 seconds, Ross Muir, and that is slow but that's the same for quite a lot of the players on tour.
"I think Neil Robertson was just angry with how he played and how many kicks he got.
"When he came in and explained about his eye and all that, you feel sorry for him as he's trying his hardest.
"For some people it's not as natural as other players, and they are going to be so slow, but it's only the best of seven. It's not like the best of 19 or the best of 25.
"It's quite a quick format. I just think Neil is angry with the way he played - that's all I can read into that.
"It didn't look that bad to me."
