Lakers: Walton says LeBron ‘gets frustrated’ when taken out
LeBron James Jr, known as 'bronny', scored 27 points in his debut for the Santa Monica Crossroads’ team on Monday night.
And much to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s surprise, his son wore the number 23 for the first time.
At his old school, ‘Bronny’ wore the number zero because of his love for Russell Westbrook.
But now, he appears to have taken inspiration from his father and has taken his old number.
Speaking to reporters after Tuesday’s practice, James said he was impressed with his son’s choice of jersey number.
“I don't know how long it's going to last,” he said.
“But it definitely made me feel proud.
“I still regret giving my 14-year-old my name.”
James opened up on his own upbringing, and explained that he didn’t want his son to go through the same things as he did.
“When I was younger, I didn't have a dad, so my whole thing was when I have a kid, not only is he going to be a junior, I'm going to do everything that this man didn't do,” he said.
“They're going to experience things that I didn't experience.
“The only thing I can do is give them the blueprint, and it's up to them to take their own course whenever that time comes.
“My kid has his own personality, he has his own DNA.
“We share the same name but he has his own path.
“But it was cool when he came downstairs the other day and showed me that he was wearing 23 and then my youngest son came to me and showed me that he was wearing 6.”
