Steph Curry makes admission over 'eye-opening' letter from upset fan
STEPH CURRY has admitted he learned a valuable lesson after a nine-year-old girl wrote to him to complain about his sneakers.
Curry, a brand ambassador for Under Armour, has released multiple signature sneakers with the company.
However, he suffered a spate of bad publicity during the week, after a young fan wrote to him to ask why the latest shoes, the Curry 5s, were not available for girls.
The young girl, named Riley, wrote to Curry to ask why she wasn’t able to ‘rock the Curry 5’s, and her father shared the post on Instagram.
In an unexpected move, Curry posted his own handwritten letter in response to Riley, and apologised.
He stated that the smaller sizes had been labelled for ‘boys’, and that they were correcting the issue.
In a gesture of goodwill, the superstar also offered to send her a free pair, as well as a pair of his unreleased Curry 6 sneakers.
And speaking on Monday night after the Warriors’ victory over the Atlanta Hawks, Curry admitted that the letter came as a surprise, and that it was important for him and Under Armour to learn from the incident.
“It’s all about trying to get better,” the star told reporters.

“That is in terms of everything I try and represent.
“When you hear someone say they have a bad experience with your shoes, I try and serve a lot of inspiration with the kicks that I put out there.
“It was a vantage point I hadn’t really thought about.
“She opened our eyes, and the companies eyes, about how to get better.
“We made some quick changes because she spoke up.
“That’s a lesson in itself right there.
“It was a great connection, and a lot of change happened in terms of how we go about inspiring the next generation through the shoes and what I stand for.”
Curry is next in action when the Warriors take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night, in a rematch of the last four years’ NBA Finals.
