NBA news: Kyrie Irving reacts to Knicks, Nets and Clippers rumours - fires Warriors shot
KYRIE IRVING has put to bed rumours of a potential exit from Boston Celtics by claiming he will be there “for the next few years.”
Irving also explained his desire to stay has stemmed from his belief the Celtics can finally break Golden State Warriors’ dominance.
The Warriors have won three of the last four NBA Finals - all which came against Irving’s former side Cleveland Cavaliers.
But now the point guard wants to secure his second Championship Ring and believes his team have built a force to be reckoned with this upcoming season.
That is despite constant rumours linking him with a move to LA Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks.
"Can we beat Golden State in a seven-game series? Yes," Irving told ESPN.
"What we're establishing here, not just for this season, but for hopefully for the next few years, [is] something that's pretty special.
"I'm accepting it's going to be a constant story.
”It's a point in my professional career where it is a big-time decision.
“I’ve been away from Cleveland officially for a year now, and I'm finally getting acclimated in Boston."
Meanwhile, Warriors boss Brad Stevens has provided an update on Irving’s health as the 26-year-old has now fully recovered from a knee injury which prematurely ended his previous campaign.
"I'm not anticipating much [limitations] based on what I've seen,” Stevens said.
“He put in a lot of work to get back fully healthy. It’s been a good summer for him.
"He's put in a lot of work to get back. You can tell by the way he's carried himself and the way he's looked prior to training camp."
Celtics get their preseason underway against Charlotte Hornets on Friday and their league campaign commences on October 17 against Philadelphia 76ers.
