LeBron James: New LA Lakers team-mate reveals season hopes from 'best player in the world'
LEBRON JAMES has been hailed as ‘the best player in the world’ by his new team-mate Svi Mykhailiuk.
Mykhailiuk, who was drafted by The Lakers this summer, has said he cannot wait to line up alongside his hero James.
The Ukrainian is about to enter into his rookie year, having already played for the Ukranian senior national team.
He explained his excitement for the upcoming NBA season, and in particular, the introduction of his new team-mate.
“It’s great to be able to play with him,” he explained.
“What can I say? He’s the best player in the world and has a lot of knowledge of the game.
“I’ll try to learn from him as much as I can."
Mykhailiuk admitted he had only met James a few weeks ago ahead of pre-season practice starting.
He described the moment he met with James and discussed their upcoming season.
“He didn’t tell me anything special," Mykhailiuk added.
“He seemed like a pretty normal person to me and I hope to be a good team-mate of him.”
This season will be James’ first in the NBA Western Conference, having moved from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angles Lakers.
Whilst James is unquestionably going to be the first name on the team sheet every week, Mykhailiuk is under no illusions about his game time this year.
He explained that in this, his rookie year, he is just happy to be a part of the team.
The Ukranian said: "It’s my first year, I want to help the team in any way I can, whether I play or not.
“Above all, I want to be a good teammate.”
The Lakers play their first NBA Pre-Season game on October 1 against the Denver Nuggets.
