Horse racing tips July 7: Horses to back at Ayr, Windsor, Ripon and Worcester
AFTER numerous disappointments AL SHAHIR (2.45, nap) can reward his patient connections by opening his account over fences at Worcester.
A smart performer over hurdles, the Dan Skelton-trained gelding has always looked a better prospect for chasing, but his career has been dogged by bad luck and health issues.
Following a promising debut over fences, when fourth behind Count Meribel at Carlisle last year, he failed to build on that effort when breaking a blood vessel in his next race.
On his return at Southwell last month he was travelling like the winner before crashing out six fences from home. Simon Crisford, on a roll after his success at Royal Ascot last month with A’Ali, can strike with ALNADIR (8.50, nb) at Windsor.
The gelding was not disgraced on his recent outing at the Berkshire course when second behind Korcho and runs off the same handicap mark. GHANIM (9.10, treble), an eye-catcher when finishing sixth behind Cadre Du Noir at Newmarket on his solitary outing last month, can get off the mark at Ripon.
