Who won The Masters last year? Augusta 2018 results and scores
WHERE did Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood finish?
The Masters is the one major every golfer wants to win.
And last year, Patrick Reed was not going to be denied his chance to slip on the coveted green jacket.
Within the seven years since turning professional Reed had never claimed a major title - making the 2018 Masters his 17th major championship.
But the Texan had his eyes firmly on the prize as he shot a par-saving putt on the final green to claim a one-shot win.
How Reed took the lead against Jordan Spieth
Despite fairly consistent play throughout the 2018 Masters tournament, Reeds’ victory wasn’t clear-cut.
In the first round, Reed was left three shots off the lead after fellow American Jordan Spieth, shot an incredible round of 66 after birdieing five holes in a row on the second nine of the Augusta National Golf Club.
But Spieth floundered during the second round, scoring a 74 and leaving Reed the perfect opportunity to snatch the lead from the 2015 Masters champion.
And that he did - finishing with a 66, Reed moved out to a two-stroke lead with only two days left of play.
How Reed won after Rickie Fowler’s surge
Reed’s third-round was equally as promising as his second, with the Texan potting two eagles on the back nine and finishing with a score of 67.
It looked like Reed would be guaranteed victory as he led the tournament by three shots over second-place Rory McIlroy.
However, a surprising late surge by Rickie Fowler on the final day took everyone, including Reed by surprise.
Fowler, who had been trailing Reed by a few shots throughout the day, quietly moved up the leaderboard after six birdies in his final 11 holes, posting 67 and finishing 14-under.
But it wasn’t enough to beat Reed, whose birdie on the 14th hole and subsequent pars till the 18th saw him win The Masters 2018 with a one-shot lead.
