Ryder Cup: Justin Rose butt of jokes at Europe base as team-mates rip ONE thing
JUSTIN ROSE has been the butt of the jokes in Europe’s team room so far this week.
How does the Ryder Cup format work?
The world No 2, who has received a constant stream of ribbing from his millionaire teammates over the $10m prize he won at the PGA Tour Championship on Sunday, was also ripped for constantly showing off his Olympic gold medal by Irish impressionist Conor Moore.
The Rose take-off was included in a specially commissioned 10-minute video from the comedian which featured impressions of the entire team and brought the house down by all accounts.
Europe’s bald captain Thomas Bjorn also appeared in a shower cap with ludicrous eyebrows.
This will be his fourth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance for Team Europe.
He has been on the winning side twice in 2012 and 2014 while also tasting defeat in 2008 and 2016.
Rose has enjoyed relative success this season having finished inside the top 10 at all four Majors.
He did lose his number one ranking as a result of finishing in joint fourth at the Tour Championship.
Rose because the first Englishman to win the FedEx Cup which determines the season-long PGA Tour.
The 38-year-old needed a birdie on the 18th to finish joint fourth with Hideki Matsuyama to claim the title.
"I was waiting for a break all day and to get it on the last hole was great timing," Rose said.
"I felt more pressure as I was throwing it away.
“It was a horrible scenario but fortunately I clicked into gear at the right time. Today is going to take a lot of absorbing but I can't wait to go over to Paris."
Rose is $10m richer after clinching the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup and he even took the time to joke with Tiger Woods.
“Tiger’s got enough money,” he said after congratulating the 42-year-old on his comeback win at East Lake.
“I think as a kid I would have said being a major champion was the most important to me.”
