Man Utd transfer news: United approach Inter Milan as Serie A club focus on Luka Modric
MANCHESTER UNITED approached Inter Milan to offer them Juan Mata this summer.
But the Serie A side are not overly keen on a move.
That is according to Italian transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The report claims United ‘proposed’ to offload Mata onto Inter before the transfer window closes.
But Inter are warming to other targets first.
According to the claims, Inter are keen on landing Lazio midfielder Keita Balde.
The San Siro giants are desperate to sign more players before the August 31 transfer deadline.
Inter are currently pushing for a deal to sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid.
And a move for Balde would be additional to Modric’s capture, rather than an alternative.
Gianluca Di Marzio claim contact with Lazio over a Balde deal is more ‘concrete’ than anything they have with United.
Mata is said to be out of favour at Old Trafford and is free to leave if the Spaniard finds a suitor.
Manchester United signed Fred earlier in the transfer window and also opted to keep Marouane Fellaini at the club, so spaces in the midfield are hard to come by.
As for Inter, their main objective remains prising Modric away from Real Madrid.
The Croatia international has asked Los Blancos for permission to speak to Inter.
And it was supposedly his wife who first called the Serie A club to gauge their interest on securing a transfer.
