Barcelona transfer news: Man Utd refuse to hijack Yerry Mina deal using Paul Pogba
MANCHESTER UNITED are not willing to use Paul Pogba as a bargaining chip to sign Barcelona star Yerry Mina.
Manchester United NEED Yerry Mina says expert
Manchester United wanted to sign Mina this summer and had been in talks with Barca over a deal.
But Everton have beaten the Red Devils to an agreement and the centre-back should join before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The surprise agreement has left United reeling and they are now eyeing a deal for Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld or Jerome Boateng.
But Spanish newspaper SPORT claim United had the chance to revive a deal for Mina.
According to the report, the Red Devils refused to countenance throwing Paul Pogba into the bargain.
SPORT claim Manchester United did not want to discuss the possibility of Mina, valued at £35m, being added to a player-plus-cash deal for Pogba.
Pogba, who joined United from Juventus for £89m two years ago, has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
His agent Mino Raiola has supposedly discussed a possible transfer with Nou Camp bosses.
But United are reluctant to sell the French World Cup winner, even if they get cash and Mina in return.
Mina now appears all set to join Everton and free up a non-EU spot on Barcelona’s roster.
The Nou Camp giants only signed the Colombian earlier this year but are set to make a healthy profit on the 23-year-old.
