Liverpool transfer news: Peter Crouch explains the two signings Reds needed this summer (Image: GETTY)
"My old club have had the most impressive summer in terms of transfer business and friendly results have been encouraging," Crouch told the Daily Mail. "The build-up to the season has been smooth.
"It’s going to be interesting watching Naby Keita in midfield. Stoke played RB Leipzig in a friendly this time last year. We won 2-1 but I came away thinking what a good player he was, so fast and dynamic. Liverpool needed something extra in midfield and he will give it to them.
"Keeping Mohamed Salah was critical and if he scores even half of the goals he managed last season, they are going to win lots of games. The addition of Alisson was expensive but they needed to address the goalkeeping position."
Liverpool supporters have endured a tough 28 years since they last achieved top-flight glory.
Crouch believes Klopp’s men can offer the biggest threat to Manchester City’s hopes of retaining their Premier League crown though.
"If it clicks for Liverpool, they will be the team that comes closest to stopping Manchester City," Crouch added.
"They have been so exciting to watch and I can see it continuing. I know what it would mean to their fans if they went all the way."
Liverpool could cut loose a number of fringe players before Thursday’s 5pm deadline to trim down their bloated squad.
But Klopp insists Liverpool have no need to sell anyone on the cheap if other clubs attempt to low-ball them.
"We will see what happens," said Klopp, when asked about potential outgoing deals on Saturday.

"If any player from my team is available, then in every other situation in my life as a manager I would have bought all of them, to be honest.
"They are all fantastic boys, they are able to play fantastic football. In this moment, the squad would be too big, that's true.
"But it's not that that means for us that we give them for free or something like that, Liverpool is strong enough to keep all these players and then we deal with that. We are not there to make other teams stronger, that's not our job."
Liverpool play their final pre-season match when they welcome Serie A side Torino to Anfield on Tuesday night.
They kick off their Premier League campaign by playing host to Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham on Sunday.
