Man Utd transfer news: Yerry Mina interest may help complete Tottenham deal - Sheth
MANCHESTER UNITED’s interest in Barcelona defender Yerry Mina could force Tottenham to sell Toby Alderweireld cheaper than they originally wanted, claims Sky Sports transfer expert Dharmesh Sheth.
Yerry Mina backed to make Manchester United move by Mariner
Manchester United are in the market for a new centre-back this summer.
Three players clearly on their shortlist are Leicester and England star Harry Maguire, as well as Mina and Alderweireld.
Reports on Wednesday claimed United had focused their attentions on signing Barcelona ace Mina.
But today it has emerged Spurs are willing to listen to offers for Alderweireld.
There was an element, perhaps, of trying to soften the stance of Tottenham by going for the other targets
And Sheth believes it could be a smart use of “tactics” from United.
“This is the only time Tottenham can maximise their money for him,” Sheth said.
“So what does this all mean as far as Manchester United are concerned?
“They do retain an interest in Alderweireld, but we told you last night their attentions have moved to Barcelona’s Yerry Mina.
Mourinho doesn't need Alderweireld at United says expert
“Now, I’ve talked about United’s tactics before during this transfer window.
“A genuine interest in three players; Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Yerry Mina.
“But there was an element, perhaps, of trying to soften the stance of Tottenham by going for the other targets.
“Given the number of twists in this window, I do not think we would be surprised if United went all out again to get Toby Alderweireld.”
Alderweireld has made 115 appearances for Tottenham since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
