Transfer News: Tottenham looking to trump Chelsea in race for Wilfried Zaha
TOTTENHAM are reportedly hoping to beat Chelsea in the race for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.
Wilfried Zaha is wanted by London clubs claims expert
Palace have always maintained Zaha is not for sale.
Tottenham are yet to sign any players this summer and Zaha is one of a handful of stars the club have been linked with.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have set their sights on clinching some more deals with Maurizio Sarri hoping to send out a statement of intent before the transfer window closes on August 9.
Recent reports have suggested that Palace would rebuff any bids from Spurs and are demanding £70million for his services.
In my opinion, Zaha is absolutely perfect where he is
The Eagles have so far turned down a £30m offer from Chelsea plus Danny Drinkwater.
But The Sun claim Spurs would be prepared to table a further £15m in add-ons plus a massive sell-on clause.
It is said they are looking to offload Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura in order to pave a deal for Zaha.
Last week, ESPN pundit Steve Nicol suggested that Zaha’s unsuccessful spell at Manchester United may sway his decision over his future.
He said: “In my opinion, Zaha is absolutely perfect where he is.
“I think when he went to Manchester United, the spotlight was too big for him and he couldn’t handle it.
“If Zaha’s been offered to Spurs and he has the opportunity, I think he’s going to start thinking about Manchester United and how it all went wrong and how he couldn’t handle it.”
