Celtic news: Brendan Rodgers reveals why Moussa Dembele struggles with injuries
CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers believes Moussa Dembele’s ‘explosive’ style of play is the reason behind his hamstring struggles.
The Hoops striker limped off in the second leg of their first Champions League qualifying round against Alashkert.
He will now miss his side’s clashes with Rosenborg after being ruled out for up to three weeks.
Rodgers had been pleased with the 22-year-old’s performances over pre-season but admits the nature of his game leaves him prone to injury.
"Moussa will probably be out for a couple of weeks, certainly both legs of this round,” the Celtic boss said.
It is unfortunate because he has looked very good over pre-season
"It is a minor strain. Sometimes the hamstring can be six to eight weeks but this is one that from the time it happened, we have been told two to three weeks maximum.
"It is unfortunate because he has looked very good over pre-season but he will be back fit and strong.
"Maybe he has it once or twice a year. Sometimes you get that with explosive players.
“As I say, they are into the season early. He couldn't have done any more.
“He came back lean and fit. It is just one of those unfortunate things but he will be back soon.”
Dembele was a key figure for Celtic last season, scoring 16 goals and making nine assists.
