Cristiano Ronaldo: What really drove Juventus star’s transfer from Real Madrid
CRISTIANO RONALDO swapped Real Madrid for Juventus because of money, claims La Liga president Javier Tebas.
Ronaldo clinched a £99.2million move to Juventus at the start of the week, ending his nine-year spell with Real Madrid where he won everything at the Bernabeu.
The Portugal star’s high-profile move is likely to help Juve continue to dominate Serie A and make them one of the favourites to lift the Champions League next season.
And Tebas believes money played a big role in Ronaldo’s switch to Turin, as he insists Italy’s tax system is a lot more favourable compared to Spain.
“He'll earn more money than here," Tebas said when asked about Ronaldo’s move.
I think that fiscally it favours him to go to Italy. Here in Spain we have a problem with fiscal competition

"Out of the biggest leagues, Spain is where the players have the worst tax situation.

“It's not that elsewhere the rate is so much lower, but when you're earning significant sums then these little differences in rates translates to a lot of money for the players."
Ronaldo will play no part in Juventus’ pre-seasn tour of the US, ruling out an early reunion with Real.
