Arsenal news: AC Milan plot shock move for Gunners chief Ivan Gazidis
ARSENAL chief executive Ivan Gazidis is wanted at AC Milan.
Gazidis, 53, has been in charge at Arsenal since 2009 and this summer oversaw their first managerial change in 22 years.
In his nine years at the helm of Arsenal the club have grown into one of the richest in the world - although the Premier League trophy has eluded them.
And his work in north London appears to have caught the attention of bosses in Italy.
According to newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Gazidis is the top candidate to take charge of AC Milan this summer.
Milan are in a state of turbulence following the takeover of the club by investors Elliott Management.
The American firm took full charge of the San Siro giants after Milan’s Chinese owners failed to repay a debt of £28m (€32m).
The club spent £150m on new singings last summer only to finish outside the Champions League places in Serie A.
Manager Gennaro Gattuso has overseen a partial reversal in fortunes on the pitch.
But off it Milan are seeking a new man to lead the club forward.
Corriere dello Sport claim Milan officials Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli flew to London to on Monday for a meeting with Elliott Management bosses.
Fassone himself is the current Milan CEO but a replacement is being sought.
Gazidis is Milan's top choice but Arsenal will be determined to keep the official.
Gazidis has been a central figure in the overhaul of Arsenals’ footballing staff in the past 12 months.
Unai Emery has replaced Arsene Wenger as manager, with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat drafted in last year to oversee transfers.
