AARON RAMSEY’S management group have denied claims the midfielder has signed a new five-year contract.
Arsenal: Fans craze over what Aaron Ramsey says to Gazidis
Ramsey has entered the final year of his current deal and talks over a renewal have been ongoing for several months.
After losing Alexis Sanchez in January in a swap deal, Arsenal are reluctant to let another of their big players leave cheaply.
But it appears no agreement has been reached yet.
In response to a claim on Twitter that a five-year-deal worth £155,000-a-week with £2.5m signing on fee had been agreed, Ramsey’s agency Avid Sports & Entertainment Group responded by saying: “Keep making stuff up!!!”
Ramsey captained Arsenal in the second half of Saturday’s 8-0 win over Boreham Wood and is a leading contender for the full-time role.
When asked about Ramsey’s situation last week, Emery made clear the midfielder was integrnal to his plans.
He said: “I am very happy with him.
“Every training is with the ambition I want, working with quality and the competitive spirit I want.
“I want to work with him. His future is a question for the player and club.
“I said to Ivan, Raul and Sven [Gazidis, Sanllehí and Mislintat, the collective dealing with contracts and transfers] he’s an important player for me.”
