Arsenal transfer news: Lucas Torreira flying to London on Monday to sign five-year deal
LUCAS TORREIRA will fly to London on Monday to complete his Arsenal transfer, according to reports in Uruguay.
Torreira will fly direct to London from Moscow after Uruguay were knocked out of the World Cup on Friday.
Torreira's team-mates will fly to Carrasco, in Uruguay, from Nizhny Novgorod, but Torreira is flying to London from Moscow to complete his transfer.
Uruguayan broadcaster Tenfield claim Torreira will undergo a medical and sign a five-year deal with Arsenal this week.
He will earn £2.6m (€3m) a year and become the first Uruguayan to play for Arsenal.
Unai Emery has identified Torreira as the man to anchor his midfield at Arsenal.
Emery has gone about creating a new spine at the Emirates with a new goalkeeper and centre back already in the door.
And Torreira is expected to be the next signing for the Spaniard.
Torreira earned rave reviews from Gary Neville while playing in Russia this summer.
“Torreira, the defensive midfielder, he gets back in every time,” he said on ITV.
“I don’t know how many times, but he’s always there to clear it.”

Torreira’s imminent move will plug the gap left by Jack Wilshere, whose contract expired at the end of last month.
Wilshere is closing in on a move to West Ham after completing a medical.
The England midfielder is expected to complete a move to the London Stadium this week.
Arsenal have also been linked with Ever Banega and Steven Nzonzi.
