Cristiano Ronaldo transfer: The REAL reason behind Real Madrid exit - Perez blamed
CRISTIANO RONALDO's Real Madrid exit is down to president Florentino Perez, according to former chief Ramon Calderon.
The 33-year-old looks set to quit the Spanish capital this summer, as he nears a stunning €100m (£88m) move to Juventus.
Ronaldo has repeatedly threatened to leave Madrid over the years, usually in the hope of receiving a new bumper deal from the club.
But this time it appears the attacker isn't bluffing with the Champions League holders.
And Calderon blames Perez for not making sure Ronaldo was happy at the club by meeting his ever-changing demands.
“It’s a wide-ranging issue," he told Tuttomercatoweb.
"President Perez has made some great decisions for Real over the years, but his problem is he doesn’t understand the right way to treat the inheritance left by others.
It culminated when Ronaldo realised Florentino did not value him the way he should
"It happened with the departures of Iker Casillas and Raul, two legends of Madridismo.
“When I took over, Perez tried to change or even break deals that we had made months beforehand. From that moment, a conflict was created with players that was never resolved.
"It culminated when Ronaldo realised Florentino did not value him the way he should.
“Ronaldo wanted a better salary, but that’s only normal for the best employee in a company.
Juventus hold meeting with Ronaldo's agent over transfer
"He was upset when the reports said Real were prepared to pay double his salary to Neymar.
“I hope Florentino Perez can convince Ronaldo to continue with Real Madrid, as the team, club and fans would be truly grateful.”
Agent Jorge Mendes is said to be securing a contract for Ronaldo at Juventus while he finalises the attacker's shock departure.
