Cristian Pavon interest
Arsenal are interested in signing Argentina forward Cristian Pavon.
The Mirror claim a move for Pavon could be on the cards now his country has been dumped out of the World Cup.
Pavon controversially started the 4-3 loss to France over the weekend, as Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli left strikers Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero and Paulo Dybala on the bench.
Pavon, 22, caught the eye of Arsenal scouts in January but a £26.5m offer to Boca Juniors was rejected, the report claims.
Pavon is well under contract in Buenos Aires and Boca are not looking to sell.
Chambers deal signed
Calum Chambers has signed a new contract at Arsenal.
The former Southampton defender is understood to have been given a pay rise on the ‘long-term’ deal.
Head coach Unai Emery said: “I’m delighted Calum has extended his stay with us. He played an important role last season and will be part of my plans this season.”
An Arsenal statement read: “We would like to congratulate Calum on his new contract and look forward to his continued contribution to the club.”
Wright move
Ian Wright has praised Arsenal manager Unai Emery for landing Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Sokratis joined the Emirates club from Dortmund on Monday and Gunners legend Wright is pleased with the deal.
“Another good piece of business by the club,” he tweeted.
“Getting things done early in the window has been a challenge in the past.”
Referring to Gunners chief scout Sven Mislintat, who has previously worked for Dortmund, Wright said: “You can't under estimate how much it helps to already have friends at a club.”

Sokratis done deal
Arsenal have signed defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund.
The 30-year-old centre-back joined in a deal thought to be worth around £18m.
He becomes Arsenal’s third signing of the summer and said: “I feel very good.
“It’s my first day here, everything is special. It’s a beautiful moment and I’m very happy that I will be here for the next years.”
Asked why he chose the Gunners, he said: “It has a lot of fans and a very big history.”
Ozil shirt number
Mesut Ozil has been given the No 10 shirt at Arsenal vacated by Jack Wilshere.
Ozil had previously worn the No 11 shirt at the Gunners.
But he has been moved to No 10 after Wilshere’s departure was confirmed on Sunday.
Arsenal had offered Wilshere a new contract to remain at the Emirates but no deal was signed.
It means the England midfielder - left out of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad this summer - is now a free agent.
Lucas Torreira medical
Arsenal are close to singing Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria.
The midfielder, 22, is on manager Unai Emery’s radar and Sampdoria are believed to have agreed to offload the player.
Torreira’s father - Ricardo Torreira - has confirmed the player will have a medical in London as soon as his World Cup with Uruguay comes to an end.
“Lucas at Arsenal? I want the best for my son and I know that Arsenal showed great interest in my son,” Ricardo said.
“It’s not done. It’s not official because he has not signed anything, but there’s a great chance that Lucas’ future will be in England.
“There was no problem in the negotiations and the latest update we have is that as soon as the World Cup ends, he will go to London for medical visits.”
N’Zonzi update
Arsenal target Steven N’Zonzi could be heading to the Emirates this summer.
The Sevilla midfielder has impressed during his time in Spain.
However, according to The Sun, the France international has told Sevilla he is desperate to return to England this summer.
They say new Gunners boss Unai Emery, who managed the 29-year-old during his time in La Liga, is desperate to sign the midfielder.
The Sun add that Arsenal will have to fork out N’Zonzi’s £35m release clause in his current Sevilla contract.
Tottenham battle
Arsenal and Tottenham are chasing Andre Gomes, claim gianlucadimarzio.
Gomes has endured two forgettable seasons at Barcelona following his move from Valencia.
He can leave this summer for £35.3m and the report reckons both London clubs are interested in his signature.
Arsenal are yet to sign a new midfielder this summer following the departure of Jack Wilshere as a free agent.
