Kylian Mbappe had been taken out in the box by Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo and referee Alireza Faghani was quick to point to the spot.
Griezmann duly slotted the spot-kick home to give his side an early lead but Pogba had the opportunity to double the scoreline minutes later.
Mbappe was once again pulled down but this time it was just outside the box.
Up stepped Pogba but he blazed the ball over the bar.
And his brothers looked far from impressed.
As the camera cut to the crowd, the brothers were stood looking stunned at Pogba’s woeful free-kick.
Unfortunately, France couldn’t keep hold of their lead and former United man Angel Di Maria’s thundering strike put Argentina back on level terms just before the break.
And minutes into the second half, Gabriel Mercado turned the knockout clash onto its head when he latched onto Lionel Messi’s cross and put the ball past Hugo Lloris.
But staggeringly, Argentina’s lead lasted less than 10 minutes when an exquisite strike from Benjamin Pavard put France back on level terms.
Mbappe finally got his deserved goal when he found a way past goalkeeper Franco Armani to make it 3-2.
The 20-year-old doubled his goal tally by scoring France’s fourth just four minutes later.
While Sergio Aguero scored late on to make it 4-3, Argentina couldn’t quite find a way back and France booked their place in the quater-finals.
