Man Utd transfer news: Anthony Martial move to Juventus gathers pace - report
MANCHESTER UNITED star Anthony Martial appears to be edging closer to a move to Juventus, according to reports in Italy.
Martial struggled to hold down a regular first team spot at Manchester United last term after failing to curry favour from Jose Mourinho.
The Frenchman has been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham, while Juventus are also monitoring his situation.
And now according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Juve are in pole position to sign Martial.
It is said that negotiations are at an ‘advanced stage’ for the 22-year-old.
The Bianconeri are looking at a potential replacement for the ageing Gonzalo Higuain.
If someone came and offered me Anthony Martial for €100million I'd probably laugh
Meanwhile, transfer expert Ian McGarry thinks United are crazy demanding £88million for Martial.
He said: “If someone came and offered me Anthony Martial for €100million I'd probably laugh - are you serious? Have you looked at how he's played for the past year? He's not worth that amount of money.
"Martial has a colourful social life which has I think frustrated Jose Mourinho and other people at Manchester United, they feel his focus is not on football.
"But it's obvious he's a very talented young man and could be an elite player.
"He probably needs to move elsewhere to refocus his mind in terms of his contract and find somewhere he can play every week.
“I just think at that price €100m, it'll be very hard for Manchester United to find a buyer."
