Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho handed HUGE Ivan Rakitic boost - report
MANCHESTER UNITED have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic.
The Croatian's solid showings for his country at the World Cup recently have put European outfits on red alert, most notably Jose Mourinho's men.
Rakitic is being touted as the next potential arrival at Old Trafford this summer after Fred and Diogo Dalot secured their moves earlier this month.
And Mourinho has been handed a boost in his attempts to sign the 30-year-old, according to reports in Spain.
Transfer outlet Diario Gol claim Rakitic wants to finish his career in the Premier League in the coming years.
The former Sevilla star has been at Barcelona since 2014.
But the Spanish publication claims Rakitic wants to leave La Liga for England in the next few years.
Numerous reports have suggested Mourinho is ready to offer Paul Pogba to Barcelona in the hope of landing Rakitic in a swap deal.
The Frenchman has struggled for consistency since his big-money move from Juventus in 2016.
Rakitic's Croatia are already through to the knockout stages of the World Cup after impressive performances against Nigeria and Argentina.
And more good outings for his national side may see Barcelona up their asking price for the midfielder this summer.
