Real Madrid transfer news: Tottenham close to shock Luka Modric deal, replacement lined up
REAL MADRID could lose Luka Modric to Tottenham with reports claiming the Croatia international is closing in on a sensational return.
Luka Modric has grown as a consistent player says Roy Keane
Real Madrid signed Modric from Tottenham back in 2012, with the Croatia international rejecting Manchester United to move to the Bernabeu.
The veteran, who is currently representing his country at the World Cup, initially struggled to make an impact for Los Blancos.

However, fast forward six years and Modric has won every major trophy available to him - including four Champions League titles.
Tottenham know more is required if they are to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Mauricio Pochettino has earmarked Real Madrid veteran Modric as a priority target.
The midfielder impressed during his time in north London, helping Tottenham win the EFL Cup back in 2008.
He left the club on good terms with Spurs aware that the chance to sign for Real was too good to turn down.
Don Balon claim Modric is now close to a stunning return with the 32-year-old interested in a transfer.
It is said Tottenham have made him a ‘bestial’ offer and the player may now return.
What may work in Pochettino’s favour is that Real reportedly have a replacement already lined up.
And that is Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The 27-year-old came through the Barcelona academy and has always been open to a move back to the Nou Camp.
But Real could muscle in with new manager Julen Lopetegui a big admirer.
