Transfer news: Tottenham suffer huge blow with Wilfried Zaha pursuit
CRYSTAL PALACE have moved swiftly to try and rebuff Tottenham’s interest in Wilfried Zaha.
After an impressive campaign, Zaha caught the eye of many Premier League clubs last season, including Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Zaha only signed a new five-year deal last summer worth £100,000 a week.
But according to the Daily Mirror, the Eagles have already tabled a new contract offer worth more than £120,000 a week.
It is said to be more than what Spurs would be prepared to pay.
Liverpool and Arsenal were also eyeing a deal for the forward, who scored nine times in the 29 league games he played and helped the south London side survive after a dreadful start last season.
I have no plans on leaving. I’m enjoying my football, you can see how much I’m enjoying it
When asked about his future in May, Zaha said: “I am enjoying my football and I am contracted at Palace. I don’t really see myself anywhere else.
“I have no plans on leaving. I’m enjoying my football, you can see how much I’m enjoying it.
“This is my home and there’s no reason for me to leave.”
Yet he also admitted he wouldn’t be afraid of playing for a big four side again despite his failed spell at Manchester United.
He added: “That won’t scare me, if I get the opportunity to move away eventually, that will not scare me because of what happened in the past.
“I feel like I’m a different person and a different player. I am a very ambitious person. I feel like I am a good player.”
