Man Utd transfer news: I am still upset this star left United - Patrice Evra
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Patrice Evra has revealed he is still upset over Henrik Larsson’s exit from the club.
Henrik Larsson: Spain will play Germany in World Cup final
Larsson joined Manchester United on-loan from Helsingborg in January 2007 on a two-month deal, with the Swedish league set to restart in March.
He scored three goals in his 13 appearances for the Red Devils and clearly made a huge impact on Evra.
United wanted to extend the loan until the end of the season but Larsson had promised his family he would return in March.
But it was a decision Evra, who is working alongside Larsson as a pundit at the World Cup, is still not happy with.
I couldn’t accept it and even now when I see him I say ‘I’m still upset about it’
“When Henrik came to Manchester United I learnt a lot from him,” Evra said on ITV Sport’s World Cup podcast.
“His composure, his calmness, his first touch in the box. He was a massive player for us.
“I think I was one of the players most affected and upset when he left.
“I know he had a personal reason and I would say he is a good guy and he promised something, especially for his family.
Milinkovic-Savic needs the right mentality for United says Evra
“I couldn’t accept it and even now when I see him I say ‘I’m still upset about it’.
“He was such an important player for a short time. If we won the league that year it was because of him.
“So now I will give him my bank details and he can send me the money for all the good things I have said about him.
“But no it’s the truth, it’s the truth, it’s the truth. I really respect him as a man and before as a player.”
