Man Utd transfer news: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic demand made by Patrice Evra
SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC must be prepared to “die” for Manchester United, claims Red Devils legend Patrice Evra.
Milinkovic-Savic needs the right mentality for United says Evra
Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United after a fine season with Lazio in Serie A.
The Serbian played for his country in their World Cup opener against Costa Rica today.
Evra was working as a pundit for ITV and at half time he was asked about United’s interest in the 23-year-old.
He says Milinkovic-Savic must have the right mentality to play for his former club.
If he goes there he must make sure he will die for the club
“I’m really careful when I talk about Man United because to play for this club it’s not about your ability, you need to be a character, personality,” the Frenchman said.
“I think to play for this club you need to die for this club.
“It’s really the expectation I urge and I’m afraid now I miss people playing for the passion.
“If you said 20 years ago ‘Patrice, you will play for Manchester United’ and I wouldn’t even get paid, I would play for this club.
“So if he has that mentality, I don’t ask him to say ‘I don’t want any money’, but if he goes there he must make sure he will die for the club.
“So, I would be really happy for him.”
Milinkovic-Savic has scored 25 goals for Lazio in 122 appearances since arriving from Genk in 2015.
He helped Serbia beat Costa Rica 1-0 today, with Aleksandar Kolarov scoring a stunning free kick.
