Man Utd news: David De Gea shock revealed after Cristiano Ronaldo ‘gamble’
MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper David De Gea made a “basic” error in Spain’s 3-3 draw with Portugal, claims BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer.
A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick stole a point late on for Portugal in an epic clash in Sochi last night.
The Real Madrid star scored an unstoppable free kick to secure his third, but it was his second of the game which caused De Gea’s mistake.
Ronaldo struck a left-footed shot from the edge of the box straight at De Gea just before half time.
However, the goalkeeper could only fumble it over the line to restore Portugal’s lead.

It should have been a basic save for a goalkeeper of his calibre
BBC presenter and former England striker Gary Lineker was shocked at the error.
“Ronaldo’s second goal of course was a huge mistake from David De Gea, something we very rarely see,” Lineker said.
“He’s been so magnificent for Manchester United over the last few years.
“I suppose anyone can make a mistake, but it’s not the time you want to do it is it, in the World Cup?”
Shearer agreed with Lineker and said Cristiano Ronaldo benefited from taking a gamble.
“Yeah very rare isn’t it, very rare,” Shearer said.
“He takes a gamble doesn’t he Ronaldo. Left-foot, turn, hit it.
“But yeah it should have been a basic save for a goalkeeper of his calibre.”
