Roman Abramovich has sent THIS message to Chelsea chiefs over next manager - expert
ROMAN ABRAMOVICH has told his Chelsea generals: 'Let's look a cheaper options for our next manager'.
'Maurizio Sarri could fit the bill for Chelsea' says Craig Burley
According to expert Ian McGarry, Abramovich wants the club to 'think outside the box' and look at other alternatives to replace Antonio Conte.
It comes with former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique demanding to take home £14million a year - more than any other Premier League boss - to take charge at Stamford Bridge.
"At the moment the obvious candidate to replace Conte, Luis Enrique, is demanding around €15-16m net per season," McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.
"He believes there is only one club left who can afford him and the club needs a coach of his particular status.
“But what I'm told is Abramovich has told his generals 'let's think outside the box, let's look at other option’s - and by that I mean cheaper options.”
Bookies yesterday suspended the betting on Maurizio Sarri replacing Conte after what Coral described as a ‘string of large bets’.
But McGarry understands two other names are in the frame for the Stamford Bridge hot-seat.
He added: “So, two names which have been mentioned are credible and realistic are Tite, the Brazilian coach who has turned Brazil around and secured a very comfortable passage to the World Cup - and Jorge Sampaoli too at Argentina.
“He's someone who is desperate to work in Europe and particularly in England.
“If either of those managers has a good World Cup, then I think Abramovich could take a gamble.
“I think we might be waiting a while longer to see who Conte's successor will be and we might have to wait for a few World Cup matches to be played and then see who comes out on top.”
