Arsenal news: WATCH Pires reveal what Wenger said after THAT botched penalty with Henry
ARSENAL legend Robert Pires has revealed what Arsene Wenger said to him after his botched penalty with Thierry Henry.
Pires reveals what Wenger said after Henry's penalty fail
Pires went down in Premier League history when he failed to take the penalty against Manchester City back in 2005.
The Arsenal ace and Henry had hatched a plan where Pires attempted to pass to his countryman but his studs merely grazed the top of the ball.
And after discussing dizzy penalties during Jack Whitehall’s latest episode of Training Days, the comedian asked Pires why the Gunners pair decided to hatch such an elaborate spot-kick.
“What was the reasoning behind the one where you past it to Henry?” Whitehall asked smirking. “You weren’t dizzy or blindfolded?”
Chelsea ace Cesc Fabregas – who was playing for Arsenal at the time of the penalty debacle – also had no idea what Henry and Pires were playing at.
“I was right behind him and I went dizzy myself, like what are they doing?” Cesc Fabregas quipped.
While Pires admits he and Henry had practiced the penalty routine once – and scored from it – he said manager Wenger was not too pleased at their blunder.
“Arsene, he was a little bit upset,” Pires said.
“He said you are lucky because we won the game. I said thank you!”
