Arsenal transfer news: Yacine Adli reveals HUGE update with social media post
YACINE ADLI has quashed reports suggesting he was in London to complete a move to Arsenal at the weekend - although did not completely dismiss rumours he could leave Paris Saint-Germain in the coming months.
Yacine Adli's IMPRESSIVE goals for PSG and France
The 17-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium since Unai Emery’s appointment as manager, with the club’s head of recruitment Sven Mslintat having been a keen admirer of the youngster for some time.
Adli is thought to have had doubts over his long-term chances of first-team football at Ligue 1 champions PSG and is said to have been impressed by the Arsenal project following an approach.
French outlet RMC Sport recently suggested that Adli had penned a three-year deal to move to North London after rejecting an offer to stay at Parc des Princes.
But at the weekend, RMC released an updated report suggesting that while Adli was close to finalising a switch to Arsenal, he was considering a late change of heart to stay in the French capital after all.
Yet the teenager took to Instagram to deny reports he was in London, albeit without fully closing the door on a potential transfer.
Posting to his Instagram story, Adli posted: “You have no idea what you’re on about” with a location tag putting him just outside of Paris.
Play-maker Adli, a France under-18 international, was handed his senior debut for Les Perisiens by Emery on the final day of the season against Caen.
But despite being so highly rated at PSG, Adli does not see himself playing regularly and has been enticed by the opportunity for progression under former Sevilla tactician Emery at the Gunners.
Arsenal would be required to pay a €255,000 (£223,000) fee of compensation if they were to sign Adli.
Emery has already brought in Stephan Lichsteiner from Juventus on a free transfer while a deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Socrates Papastathopoulos - worth around £16million - is believed to be all but done.
The Greek defender is thought to have already completed a medical but the 30-year-old may not become an official Gunners player until July so that Dortmund can record the transfer on next season’s financial accounts.
Arsenal are also strongly linked with moves for Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira as the Spanish boss reshapes the squad.
