Man Utd news: Sergio Romero makes decision on Old Trafford future
SERGIO ROMERO says he intends to remain at Manchester United out of loyalty to Jose Mourinho.
Sergio Romero pulls off amazing double save against Feyenoord
Romero has proved himself to be a reliable performer since joining in 2016 but he has been unable to displace David de Gea as Manchester United’s first choice keeper.
Last season, Romero was snubbed by Mourinho for the FA Cup final having played in the games prior to the match at Wembley.
In 2017/18, Romero made just 10 appearances for United with only one coming in the Premier League.
The 31-year-old is contracted to the club until 2022 and says he intends to remain at the club.
I'm staying at Manchester United for now. Mourinho worked hard for my renewal until 2022. I can't leave him now
"I'm staying at Manchester United for now. Mourinho worked hard for my renewal until 2022. I can't leave him now," Romero told TyC Sports.
"If United wants to sell me, if they have an offer that it's useful for the club, they will sell me.
“But I don't think that would happen".
Romero is Argentina’s number one but a knee injury means he will miss the upcoming World Cup.
But he feels coach Jorge Sampaoli should have given him a chance to be fit.
He said: “I spoke with Jorge, I explained the situation and recovery time. I told him that I didn't have anything broken. I assured him that I would be available in 10 days.
"Sampaoli and the coaching staff's time frame is different. They wanted someone who could be there every day and I was taken off the list in four hours.
"My career with the national team hasn't finished. I'm working towards my return.”
