Loris Karius: Chris Sutton slams Liverpool goalkeeper after concussion admission
LORIS KARIUS should have kept quiet over the concussion he suffered in Liverpool's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month.
That is the opinion of BBC Sport pundit and former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton.
Karius was sent for scans while on holiday in America on May 31 amid fears he suffered concussion.
The doctors who treated him have confirmed today he did sustain a concussion, with a clash with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos the expected cause.
Karius went on to make two shocking mistakes after the incident to hand Real a 3-1 win in Kiev.
I don’t really see the point in coming out and saying that because people inevitably will say he’s using that as an excuse
But Sutton thinks the Liverpool man is just looking for an excuse and should have kept it quiet.
“It maybe would have been better for him to keep that to himself,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“What happened, happened. He did play, he stayed on the pitch. But concussion is a very serious thing.
“I just think that, I’m not saying he’s left himself open, but it’s after the horse has bolted isn’t it.
Tony Bellew slams Liverpool's 'fool' of a goalkeeper Loris Karius
“He made two horrendous errors, let’s get it right. I felt really sorry for him, I don’t think he will ever get over this.
“But I don’t really see the point in coming out and saying that because people inevitably will say he’s using that as an excuse, which it may well be.
“But I think it should have been kept under wraps.”
