Liverpool news: Real Madrid 'approach Jurgen Klopp' to replace Zinedine Zidane
REAL MADRID are eyeing Jurgen Klopp as the man to replace Zinedine Zidane, according to reports in Spain.
The Frenchman shocked the footballing world by calling time on his trophy-laden tenure in the Spanish capital earlier this week.
Zidane's departure has seen a host of European heavyweights linked with the job in recent days, including Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino.
But now it appears Florentino Perez has made Klopp his No 1 target for the Bernabeu role.
According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the Madrid president has already contacted the Liverpool boss over a potential switch to Spain.
Perez wants Klopp to lead a revolution at the club in the coming years, moving along some of the older players and replacing them with starlets on the cusp of the first team.
However, Diario Gol claim Klopp has not yet responded to Madrid's approach.
It is unlikely the German will seek to leave Liverpool after their incredible season in Europe.
The Reds almost shocked Champions League experts Madrid in Kiev last month before falling 3-1 to two Gareth Bale goals.
Should Klopp reject Madrid's offer, it is unclear who Los Blancos will turn to.
Pochettino was the club's first choice before Tottenham scuppered any chances of the Argentinian leaving.
Former midfielder Guti is also among the favourites to replace Zidane.
