Ryan Fredericks to sign TODAY: West Ham transfer is over the line, first signing done
RYAN FREDERICKS is set to be announced as West Ham’s first summer signing.
Southampton and Crystal Palace had both shown an interest in the right-back, whose contract at Fulham is now up.
But the 25-year-old has settled on West Ham and announcement of his arrival could come as soon as today, according to the Mail.
West Ham are desperate to do business before the World Cup begins following the arrival of Manuel Pellegrini as their new boss.
Fredericks joined Fulham from Bristol City in 2015 and has made over 100 appearances for the club.
He helped them win promotion through the play-offs where he caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs.
Fulham had hoped to keep the defender at the London Stadium and have been holding talks with Fredericks since November.
However, he has decided his future lies under Pellegrini at the Hammers.
West Ham could bring in as many as six summer signings with discussions continuing behind the scenes around other targets.
Lazio winger Felipe Anderson, Middlesbrough’s Adama Trarre and Genoa defender Armando Izzo are all understood to be targets.
