Real Madrid transfer news: The real reason Robert Lewandowski wants Bernabeu move - pundit
ROBERT LEWANDOWKSI wants to leave Bayern Munich for Real Madrid because he is desperate to win the Champions League.
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.
Lewandowski’s agent confirmed today the Poland international is keen on leaving Bayern this summer.
Real Madrid are favourites to sign Lewandowski, who turns 30 in August.
He is yet to win the Champions League in his illustrious career, losing in the final against Bayern while at rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2013.
Lewandowski is leaving, in my opinion, because he wants to win the Champions League,
And Nicol believes Lewandowski moving to Real Madrid would be a perfect move for him, with Los Blancos winning four of the last five Champions League titles.
“Lewandowski is leaving, in my opinion, because he wants to win the Champions League," the Scot said.
“He’s had ample opportunity with Bayern, they’ve got to the final stages of the Champions League.
“He clearly sees that they’re never going to be good enough to beat the likes of Real Madrid.

“I would think he is absolutely perfect for them (Real).
“In my opinion (Karim) Benzema is on the wane, I think (Cristiano) Ronaldo’s on the wane and of course there’s talk of (Gareth) Bale leaving.
“So it seems like it’s a match made in heaven.”
Lewandowski scored 41 goals for Bayern Munich last season, helping them win the Bundesliga.
