Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp used clever tactic to beat Man Utd to Fabinho transfer
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp used a clever tactic to beat Manchester United to the signing of Fabinho, reports have claimed.
Liverpool unveil brand new signing Fabinho
Liverpool beat Manchester United to sign Fabinho from Monaco yesterday, with the player moving to Anfield in a £40million deal.
The transfer came somewhat out of the blue with United previously being favourites for his signature.
And the Mirror have now revealed how Klopp was able to convince Fabinho to join Liverpool instead.
The 24-year-old becomes their first summer signing.
Now he has arrived, Liverpool are expected to part company with Emre Can, who looks Juventus-bound.
The Mirror say that patience was key to Klopp signing the former Monaco utility man.
Back in January, Liverpool announced they would be landing Naby Keita for £58million.
That was because that, by activating the clause mid-season, they would be landing the RB Leipzig midfielder on the cheap.
With Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool also had to wait.
Southampton were refusing to sell the Holland international 12 months ago, threatening to report the Reds for making an illegal approach.

However, in January, they completely changed their tune.
Southampton sold a disgruntled Van Dijk after the player had pressed for a move - and Liverpool’s patience paid off.
Klopp repeated the trick with Fabinho.
He reportedly first tried to sign the former Monaco ace in 2017 but, having been told he was not for sale, ultimately chose to bid his time.
And now, Liverpool have won the race for the midfielder’s signature.
