Frank Lampard makes HUGE Harry Kane England claim before World Cup
FRANK LAMPARD says Harry Kane is the ‘superstar talisman’ who deserves to lead England at the World Cup.
Frank Lampard has backed Harry Kane to become the permanent England captain
Gareth Southgate has named the 23 players to take to Russia next month but the captain’s armband remains unclaimed.
The England manager said he would “think about it” at Sunday’s squad get-together but Lampard, who wore the Three Lions at three World Cups, has made his mind up.
He said: “Jordan Henderson has proved himself a fantastic captain of Liverpool but I just love the way Harry Kane holds himself.
“He is our superstar in terms of everyone in the world being aware of what he has achieved in two or three years.
"He has produced numbers to rival the top players in the world and as is probably the one absolute star in our team in every game.
“You are also talking about someone you can rely on, who is a good statesman, does the right thing and scores a bundle of goals. He is like a talisman for us.”

Kane was first handed the armband away to Scotland in June last year and enhanced his status with a stoppage-time equaliser.
Henderson and Kane’s Tottenham team-mate Eric Dier have also captained England under Southgate, with Chelsea’s Gary Cahill another option.
Lampard was captain in England’s last World Cup finals game, the 0-0 draw with Costa Rica four years ago, but he added: “We have become obsessed about the England captancy and I don’t think there is any need to be.
