Former Liverpool and England midfielder has been announced as the new Rangers manager, replacing interim boss Graeme Murty.
Gerrard coached Liverpool's Under-18s after hanging up his boots two years ago before securing his first role in club management.
And with Celtic’s continued dominance in Scottish football, Gerrard has been discussing how he is going to catch the Hoops in his new post.
“The big goal for me is to create a winning team,” he told BT Sport.

Steven Gerrard wants to create a winning team at Rangers
“A team that’s competative and a team that goes out and makes these supporters proud.
“When I get that and when I’m happy that’s I’ve got that, we’ll welcome any challenge.
“Whether that be from Celtic, whether it be from Aberdeen, Hibernian, Kilmarnock anyone domestically.
“When we get our house in order and when we get it right, we’ll embrace any challenge that people want to throw at us and that goes for the same around Europa as well.
“We’re Rangers Football Club, there’s going to be challenges, there’s going to be tough competitors out there that want to take us down, that’s life.”
