Rangers announced the news earlier this afternoon and that has prompted fans from across the Glasgow region to flock to their home ground.

And Rangers officials have decided to let them into the stadium as Gerrard gears up to be officially presented as the club's new manager.

Gerrard has been in charge of Liverpool's Under 18s this season, leading them to a third-place finish in the Under 18s Premier League.
He also guided the Reds' Under 19s side to the quarter-finals stage of the UEFA Youth League.

Speaking ahead of Gerrard’s appointment, former Celtic boss John Barnes delivered a frank warning.
"If he wants to manage, it's going in at the deep end," said Barnes. "And probably at a time when Rangers obviously aren't their strongest.
"It's a little bit different from when I went because as much as Rangers probably financially were stronger than Celtic at that time, Celtic could still compete with them. Now, of course, it will take time.
"But financially they are a long way away, which means they are not going to be able to get the players in the next year or two to necessarily challenge Celtic at this point."
