Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Liverpool? Agent reveals how close Arsenal star came to Anfield move
HENRIKH MKHITARYAN almost joined Liverpool before moving to Manchester United.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan almost signed for Liverpool before joining Borussia Dortmund
That is according to Dimitry Seluk, the star's former agent who represented him during his early playing days.
Mkhitaryan was a Metaluruh Donetsk player when the pair's relationship started.
But when club owner, Oleg Mkrtchyan, sold another of Seluk's clients to Spartak Moscow for €8m (6.9m) the pair fell out.
Seluk also had conflict with the Armenian football federation where Mkhitaryan’s mother worked.
These incidents meant the duo decided to part ways when the midfielder was a Shakhtar player.
And super agent Mino Raiola went on to poach Mkhitaryan, in a move that saw all hope of a Liverpool transfer dashed.

Liverpool who were also interested in Mkhitaryan and wanted to sign him
“Eventually, we parted ways with him because of that whole situation," Seluk told TheseFootballTimes.
"Obviously, by that time, Mkhitaryan had already become a well-known player, and when Borussia Dortmund offered Shakhtar €27m (£23m) for Henrikh, suddenly Raiola was all over him.
"Although I had already talked to Liverpool who were also interested in Mkhitaryan and wanted to sign him.
"If Mkrtchyan hadn’t lied to me and we hadn’t parted ways with Henrikh, he would have been a Liverpool player.”
Henrikh Mkhitaryan's Manchester United career didn't go to plan
The Armenian is now settled at Arsenal after a tough time at United.
Mkhitaryan enjoyed a solid start to his Old Trafford career before falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho.
The midfielder was eventually used as a makeweight in the Red Devils' deal to sign Alexis Sanchez in January.
