Match of the Day pundit aims dig at Chelsea after Manchester City clinch Premier League
MARTIN KEOWN has aimed a surprising dig at Chelsea boss Antonio Conte after Manchester City’s Premier League title triumph.
Pep Guardiola's men have clinched the title with five games to spare
Manchester City clinched the league with five games to spare yesterday after Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom.
Pep Guardiola’s men had beaten Tottenham 3-1 at Wembley 24 hours earlier and are 16 points clear of their Manchester rivals with a maximum of 15 left to play for.
The league marked the 24th trophy of Guardiola’s career, having previously won league titles in Spain and Germany.
City’s rivals have floundered and Chelsea’s title collapse was stunning especially after their remarkable campaign last term under Conte.
When it happens, it happens in a big way. They [City] have been magnificent
And Keown believes Guardiola raised the bar once again with his style of play.
“Pep has been quite magnificent especially with the way he has set his team up,” Keown said on Match of the Day when asked for his thoughts about City’s season.
“We looked at Conte last season being the pragmatic one with the flair and artistry he brought in and it does takes longer.
“When it happens, it happens in a big way. They [City] have been magnificent.

Guardiola explains why he got sent off during Liverpool match
“Kevin De Bruyne has been my favourite player. He’s beautiful to watch and with what he creates.
“I don’t understand why Aguero was not named in the PFA Team of the Year.”
City, who have lost just twice this term, can break the 100-point barrier if they win four and draw one of their remaining five fixtures.
