Pearce: I would say this is Raheem Sterling’s best season
Real Madrid are expected to heavily invest in their squad following a miserable season in La Liga. where they sit third in the table.
Los Blancos are rumoured to be interested in breaking the world-record transfer fee to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar.
But any deal for the Brazilian is unlikely to happen until the Ligue 1 outfit win the Champions League.
So Zinedine Zidane’s side will apparently turn their attentions to Sterling, who is in blistering form for Manchester City this term.
Raheem Sterling is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid
That is according to the Mirror, who say the Blues want to open contract negotiations with the England international.
City are keen to offer the attacker a 50 per cent pay-rise to bring him in line with some of their leading stars.
Sterling currently earns £180,000-a-week but that would be improved to £270,000-a-week.
Los Blancos are thought to have dropped their interest in Neymar
But they fear that if Real come calling then they will not be able to hold onto their star.
Sterling is currently enjoying the most successful season of his career after scoring 20 goals under Pep Guardiola.
The forward was also in top form as England beat Holland and drew with Italy over the international break.
